April Thoughts

I hope you have been well and enjoying the sun while the days are getting longer. Here it has been very cold until last week actually, but slowly the temperatures are rising and when we go down the mountain into town we even can sit outside for some lunch or coffee. The windows are open and I listen to the birds singing.

Even when it was cold I felt so happy because I was playing around with wool and natural dyeing. And finally found the courage to open my little shop. I still have to pinch myself what has happened since then, and am truly humbled by all the positive feedback! The idea that the rustic wool that I love so much, originated from this wonderful French landscape has travelled the world. I am excited to see what handknits will be made from it.

A couple of days ago I made a magical walk through a forest of rocks covered with moss. There was a little path through the forest over the rocks all the way to the top of the mountain.

My mind is full of new plans and ideas with natural dyeing. Dreaming up colours for wool has been so great, and I will continue this path of exploring new natural colours. Besides the wool dyeing I have been dyeing fabric with batik technique, which is very interesting to learn about. Not so long ago I bought a huge piece of vintage French linen on a brocante market that I use for batik. Although the fabric is very old, it looks almost new, strong and beautiful. I made a little sachet of one of the batik illustrations and filled it with lavender, sage and rose petals I dried over the winter which gives it a calming and soothing scent.

Thank you so much for stopping by here with me today and I wish you a blessed end of April.
